The Bachelor

The Bachelor is a Reality TV Dating Competition Show which revolves around a single bachelor and about 25 ladies. The premise of the show is to find the Bachelor a romantic interest and possible a wife for the bachelor.

The Bachelor is an elimination type reality show where contestants are eliminated as the show progresses leaving one final winner in the end. The conflicts and drama in the show stem from the elimination-style format of the show. The show holds something it calls a rose ceremony where the ladies not eliminated are handed arose in the ceremony. Early in the season, the bachelor eliminates many ladies after going on large group dates, later on the field gets smaller allowing the bachelor to do Two-on-one and one-on-one dates.

As the show progresses the group gets to meet the bachelors family and as the group gets smaller more exotic overnight dates are planned to romantic destinations. The show is always filled with twists and turns as the bachelor may not always follow the competition rules, change his mind, eliminate all the women and anything else the producers can think of.

There have been 15 seasons of the Bachelor and 2 spin off shows, The Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad. Often times the cast of one show ends up on another. An eliminated lady from the Bachelor may become The Bachelorette or an eliminated man from the Bachelorette may be cast as the new Bachelor. Out of 15 seasons only one couple got married, the rest of the relationships either never formed or were ended after only a few months.

One bachelor, Brad Womack selected neither of his final two women. Brad Womack is now cast as the Bachelor for season 15. Jason Mesnick, another previos cast member of the Bachelor, proposed to one woman, and then changed his mind during the “After the Final Rose” show to the other finalist. Mesnick is the one Bachelor that actually married his choice from the show.
