MTV Reality Shows

MTV may have started out with music videos but in recent years the network has become the king of reality TV with over a dozen shows currently running and new ones always in development.

MTV has a huge teen and young adult following and most of their reality shows are aimed at a younger audience that is 18 to 35.

Because of their younger demographic, MTV tends to cast their reality shows with young adults who are 18 to 24 years old.

Over the last decade MTV has launched more shows that can be listed and such popular hits as ‘The Osbournes’, ‘Road Rules’, ‘The Hills’, ‘Rob and Big’, ‘A Shot at Love’ and ‘Punk’d’. Some of their shows that were around from the early times of reality TV like ‘The Real Life’ are still going strong after 20 seasons or so. ‘Cribs’ and ‘True Life’ have both been on for over 10 years.

MTV success has also spread worldwide with language specific networks such as:

The popularity of MTV and its programming has caused MTV to create spin-off channels many of which have their own programming and original shows.

MTV2 also re-broadcasts shows that no longer air on MTV.

  • MTV Jams – Dedicated to music and new album releases. Plays music videos
  • MTV Hits – Plays music videos and hit lists. MTV Hits plays things like top 10 lists, MTV’s Sucker Free, Music Mix and other shows that focus on certain types of music.
  • mtvU – Dedicated to college life and on campus events - mtvU shows include Dean’s List, the mtvU Awards, and mtvU Spring Break
  • Tr3′s – is a channel aimed at latinos and offers music videos as well as original programs that are aimed at Latin America and US customers who speak spanish.

    I’m Brianna Calimee, a 18 year old teen in Chicago Illnois . You guys made a jersey shore but you would MAKE MORE MONEY AND GET MORE VIEWS IF YOU MADE A CHICAGO VERSION. Just saying I would like to be in it but make a version where you can be 18+ instead of 21.
